“You have enough time to do God’s will because He has perfectly ordered your days.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – January 15, 2025
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16 ESV
What is time? It’s more than ticking seconds or calendar pages. Time is God’s gift—a canvas for life, relationships, and purpose. Time reminds us it’s precious and fleeting. Imagine each day as a blank page handed to you by the Holy Spirit. How will we fill it? Will it be scribbled with worry and distraction or inked with purpose, love, and faith? Time reveals priorities—what we truly value. It’s the moments we cherish, the opportunities to grow, serve, and glorify Him. Here’s the grace factor: God exists outside of time, yet He meets us within it. He redeems wasted moments, renews weary hearts, and promises eternity. Pause. Pray. Seek His wisdom, savor the seconds, and invest each moment in what truly lasts—His Word, His people, and His Kingdom. Time is God’s gift for you to manage wisely. What hinders you from the best use of time?
Distractions, misaligned priorities, and a lack of intentionality often hinder the best use of time. One major obstacle is procrastination, where valuable moments are lost to delay and avoidance. Distractions, such as excessive use of technology, social media, or unproductive activities, pull us away from meaningful tasks and relationships. Busyness can also hinder us, as we fill our schedules with urgent tasks that lack eternal value. Overcommitment spreads us too thin, leaving little room for rest or focus on Kingdom matters. Additionally, fear of failure or perfectionism can paralyze us, preventing action. But love is able to move forward by faith.
There is always another email. Text threads will continue to weave and ding. Needy people will never stop tugging on you, and urgent matters will always want to matter. Only you can decide to say yes to investing your time into divine priorities and trust the Lord will take care of the other less important opportunities. Neglect the non-essentials and focus on the eternal essentials.
What are the essentials for the best use of your time? Stephen Covey says, “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” Prayerfully align your daily tasks with your core values and long-term goals. Make a to-do list, use a calendar, and regularly refresh both. Yes, time flies, but God is the pilot, you are the co-pilot, the Bible is your instrument panel, and prayer is your radio to communicate with the pilot!! You have the time.
You have enough time to do God’s will because He has perfectly ordered your days. Psalm 139:16 promises, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” God never asks you to accomplish something without giving you the time and resources to do it. The key is aligning your priorities with His purpose. Often, we feel rushed or overwhelmed because we take on tasks He hasn’t called us to. By seeking His guidance, you can discern what truly matters. Trust His timing and rely on His strength. As you focus on His will, He’ll provide clarity and enable you to accomplish everything He desires in His perfect timing. Your best use of time is following the divine timeline for your life by faith, lovingly obeying.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to value each moment as a gift from You. Help me use my time wisely, focusing on Your will, serving others, and bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
