“Let this Easter remind you that no matter what you face today, or what uncertainties your tomorrow may hold, Jesus is risen, and He alone is our only hope.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – March 31, 2024
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6
Can you imagine what it must have been like on this day over 2000 years ago? Before the sun began to rise on the third day after the crucifixion of Jesus, I envision the disciples, along with Mary, the mother of Jesus, laying in their beds crushed to the core because their Master was dead. I imagine each of them wondering, “What will we do now?”
During their overwhelming grief, didn’t any of them remember what Jesus had told them as they had gathered together in Galilee: “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised up.” (Matthew 17:22-23). I don’t think any of them recalled these words amid their sorrow, but thankfully, God had a plan.
On that third morning, Mary got up as the sun had barely begun to rise. She went to the tomb, and as she looked inside, she saw two angels. She started crying because she assumed someone had taken Jesus’ body. Then, in an instant, a man appeared, which she thought was the gardener … but then he called her by name – “Mary.” It was only one word, but as she turned toward him, she cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” which means Teacher. At that moment, she knew this man who knew her name was Jesus, her Lord and Savior! Oh, the unspeakable joy she must have felt!
On this Easter Sunday, Christians worldwide will be celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We come together to celebrate the victory over sin and death.
We will sing praises to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Let this Easter remind you that no matter what you face today, or what uncertainties your tomorrow may hold, Jesus is risen, and He alone is our only hope. God is not dead, and we are never alone!
No grave could hold him. He conquered death and made all things new. He has risen, and he will live forever.
Your Heavenly Father knows your name, too. Your name is written in the Book of Life, and one day, you will hear him call you by name. He is alive! Hallelujah!
“And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 1:4).
Prayer
Father, thank you that you hold the keys over death and that by your might and power Jesus was raised from the dead. Thank you that you had a plan and made a way and because of that we have a new life with you. Thank you for your everlasting love and for being our Redeemer, our everlasting Father and our great and awesome God.
Application
If you are unsure of your relationship with Jesus, let today, this Resurrection Sunday, be the first day of the rest of your life. Confess your need for Jesus as our Lord and Savior and ask him to renew your heart, mind and life for all your future days.
