Open Minded

Written by Wisdom Hunters

Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today- September 2, 2011

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. Luke 24:45

Open mindedness to God comes from God. Just as the Lord inspired the writing of the Scriptures in the past, so He opens the mind to understanding the Scriptures in the present. The Bible says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2 Timothy 3:16a). The longer you walk with Jesus, you love Him more dearly and you understand His word more clearly. It is in a close encounter with Christ where He applies truth to thinking that leads to life transformation.

Therefore, make it a holy habit to daily huddle around Holy Scripture in prayer and meditation. As a result, His word becomes a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Keep a Bible at your desk so you can draw inspiration, before you go into an engaging meeting. Scripture is a solace for your soul, but you need the Spirit to guide you into its understanding and personal application.

“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace” (Romans 8:6).

A closed mind to Christ is not giving Him a chance to be a friend, when all other friends do not understand your predicament. A life that marginalizes the Lord, is a life that misses out on being completed by their Creator. Be open to heaven’s original plan–and your baby steps of faith will reveal a plethora of possibilities. Like a child in a candy store, you become giddy at God’s gifts for you. So, do not shut out your Savior’s love–He longs to take you to beautiful places with Him.

Read the Bible for the purpose of your character conforming to Christ’s. Insights for others are helpful, but the first step is your individual life change. Perhaps, as a reminder, you need to write a Bible verse on an index card and place it next to the steering column in your car, because focus fosters change. Above all, ask Christ to open your mind to the wisdom of His Word.

The Bible says, “…you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise” (2 Timothy 3:15). Jesus opens your mind so you can be conformed to His character.

How can I open my heart and mind to Christ’s big plans for my life?

  1. Beulah Schott says:

If you place an index card next to your steering wheel, you will get to the pearly gates a whole lot faster than God intended.

  2. For the past month I have been praying to God for revelation. I had basically stopped reading my bible and praying. Now, I get up every morning to pray, thanking God and reading my bible. I was ungrateful…I have had some ups and downs in my life, but the Lord has kept me. I look forward to reading your devotionals because I felt like I had not been hearing from God. Every time I open your devotional it’s like God is answering my questions and my prayers. Thank you so much Wisdom Hunters, I am so happy that I found you…the Lord is using your devotional to renew a right spirit within me and helping me to see that he has not left me and he hears my prayers, my cry’s and my concerns.
