“Wounds become scars and scars become stories.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – March 2, 2025
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
While attending my women’s group I heard something that really resonated with me: Wounds become scars and scars become stories. Life is a tapestry woven with experiences—joys, trials, wounds, and ultimately, scars. The wounds we endure, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, are often painful and raw in the moment. They represent the hurt, loss, or hardships we encounter. Yet over time, as healing takes place, these wounds close up and become scars. Scars, while a reminder of our pain, also serve as a testament to our strength, resilience, and the grace that carried us through. In many ways, scars are the stories that tell of survival, growth, and transformation. When we allow our scars to become testimonies, we invite others into our story. In doing so, we offer them encouragement, hope, and a reminder that they, too, can overcome their wounds.
As we walk through life, our journey of faith plays a vital role in how we process wounds and scars. Faith is what sustains us in the darkest moments, giving us hope when we cannot see the way forward. In scripture, we are reminded of the redemptive power of faith: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). Faith doesn’t prevent us from being wounded, but it does offer us the strength and perspective to heal and move forward. It reassures us that no suffering is without purpose, and every scar tells a story of God’s faithfulness.
Wounds becoming scars is a natural part of the healing process. But scars becoming stories is an intentional act of faith. It is the moment we choose to reflect on our past struggles, not with bitterness, but with gratitude for the lessons learned and the growth experienced.
Faith encourages us to see beyond the pain and trust in the process of healing. It reminds us that we are not defined by our wounds but by the transformation that takes place as we heal. Our scars are no longer marks of defeat but symbols of victory, a reflection of how God carried us through and used our pain for good.
In the end, the journey from wounds to scars to stories is one of grace. It is a journey of trusting that no matter the depth of our pain, faith will always lead us to a place of healing, where our stories of struggle become stories of triumph.
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles” (Psalm 34:17).
