“No matter what happens in our lives, He is always there.”
Thoughts from daily Bible reading for today – March 6, 2022
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
A couple of years ago my husband and I rented a small home for the summer nestled in the Canadian Rockies.
Some mornings we would look out the big picture window in the living room and could clearly see the gorgeous peaks that hugged the valley below. Clear sky. Breathtaking view.
Other mornings mist hung from the clouds and looked like cotton was stretched out over the tops of the mountains.
And then there were other days when the clouds completely obscured the beauty of the Rockies as if the mountains didn’t exist at all. Of course, the mountains were still there. The beauty was still there; the majesty was still there, but it was just covered.
What a great picture for life. There are days when God’s majesty and love shine brightly for us.
We are alive with anticipation of His unfolding work. We sense His love. We know He is with us and are confident and secure that He is involved in every detail of all that concerns us.
But other days—or even for long seasons—we can’t sense His love because it’s been obscured by problems, challenges, worries, or disappointment. We may wonder if He has forgotten us and if we will ever know His love again. We may think He is displeased with us. We must remember that in every situation, no matter what happens in our lives or what we believe about His presence, He is always there. He never moves. He will never leave.
But perhaps something has “come between” us just like the fog comes between us and the mountains such as worry, anxiety, fear, doubt, or unbelief.
Scripture says He will never leave us or forsake us. No matter how you feel, He is always there. Rest assured that just as the mist disappears from the mountains, you will be confident of His presence once again. He has you firmly in His hand.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).
Prayer
Lord, help me to live by faith, knowing that even during those times when I don’t sense your presence, you are always with me and you will never leave me or forsake me.
Application
When have you most sensed God’s love? When have you doubted His love? Do you believe He is with you now, no matter how you feel?
